iMPAC is an initiative started by Pluto Panoussis, and it focuses on film and the moving image as an art-form. It specifically aims to give young filmmakers in Africa a platform to show their work. For this year, we were briefed to create the look for the festival, and it had to include the theme of Tswane. It had to invite the arts into the city and encourage cultural growth in the people in Tswane. The Voortrekker Museum We used one of the most well known landmarks in Pretoria to create the piece that will become the call-to-action posters, and the website teasers. Originally, the building is a very serious place, so we wanted to inject a sense of humor into it. The work depicts the landmark being lifted off the ground by a spaceship, and the happenings inside the building. It is lighthearted and includes little Easter-egg-moments from well-known films.
