Custom Metal and Wood Furniture that I design and build in Chicago.
Published:
The wood for this Custom Table came from a tree felled from "The Urban Jungle"- meaning that during a storm or an unplanned accident, this tree was taken by a local Arborist and sent to be sawn & kiln dried so that it could live on in someone's home.
The beauty of the wood was enhanced by the hours of sanding and staining and sealing done by Ted Schultz of Hylan Design, being mindful to leave "just enough" of the trees natural curves and characteristics visible.
Then, using Stainless Steel flat bars I created a simple yet elegant design that showcased the wood, while allowing the fine Mirror Finish on the Stainless to add a more "Of-The-Moment" design element.
Also, I was able to ensure that the wood and steel "fit" perfectly with each other.

The beauty of the Mirror Polished Stainless Steel works so well with the warmth of
the Live Edge Slab of Wood.
