Whim Magazine
A magazine for kids of all ages
For a class project, we designed prototypes of magazines. Whim is the magazine I created for children ages 4 to 12 and their parents. Filled with six departments featuring age-appropriate, gender-neutral crafts and recipes for the kids and articles for Mom and Dad, Whim was an exercise in content curation and systems design.
The cover for Whim magazine. Fonts are Bell Gothic and Memphis. Photo is stock.
For this article about fall family vacations, I designed a visual alternative copy package about famous U.S. National Parks. The article was for the adults, but with something for the kids -- presenting the audience with an opportunity for conversation.
This article is about how kids could liven up playtime, with or without parents. The illustrations are my own.
Visual recipes help to teach children about cooking. In retrospect, they lack images of the finished products, a pet peeve I have of cookbooks of my own.
This room decoration craft, though not intended for kids to do alone, encourages families to do something together.
