WeBribeYou 1.5 The animation started out as a week long project based around Human Rights; set in my final year of university. The aim of the project was to visually represent certain phrases in any chosen way. I believe the phrase that I was given was 'all people have the right to be free from coercion'. From this I came about creating this piece that was almost like an examination into someone's head regarding the way that they are controlled - this control comes from sources that they have no control over. Track: 'Let's Buy Happiness' by Boys Noize

The animation started out as a week long project based around HumanRights; set in my final year of university. The aim of the project wasto visually represent certain phrases in any chosen way. I believe thephrase that I was given was 'all people have the right to be free fromcoercion'. From this I came about creating this piece that was almostlike an examination into someone's head regarding the way that they arecontrolled - this control comes from sources that they have no controlover. The tongue-in-cheek use of subliminal messages and still framesinvolves the viewer and puts them on the receiving end of the hiddenmeanings.

I chose to do it in the style of VJ material as this was my firstattempt at this kind of work, and I had taken an interest in this fieldof video art around that time. I felt that having the video move to themusic made the images more prominent - as there is sound when there isan image for the most parts, almost like an assault on the senses(again linking back to the concept of mind control).
The track is 'Let's Buy Happiness' by Boys Noize - a title fitting forthis project and also helped in deciding what the video would be about- in this sense I wanted it to be as if the track and the video wereworking hand in hand.

In terms of it's style, at the moment it is very simplistic looking, and doesn't have a great deal of depth to it - however within the shorttime frame, I don't think I could have done a great deal more withouttaking a lot of imagery from elsewhere: i.e. the internet. And I'drather not do that... It is still a project that I would like to takefurther, and since the time I completed it I have been collectingimagery that I feel is inspiring to furthering this piece. In additionto this, I would like to animate to the entire track, especially as thetrack has a very different ending to the beginning, with a distinctchange in tone, perhaps making the piece jump from a choppy flash ofimages to perhaps a slower moving more moody setting - this actuallylinks in with my other piece 'Ø (The Shell)', further description aboutthis can be read on it's own page.
