The planned USA missile-defense system in Eastern-Europe is partly located at the Brdy hills in Czech Republic. This military area, some 90 kilometers from Prague, is surrounded by small villages. The people of these villages, like most Czechs, oppose the system. They worry that radiation from the radar could cause health problems and are afraid that Russia would bomb the base. A lot of villages lack proper sewer systems and roads are in poor condition.
