Zal is an Italian telecommunication company with a difference: not only does it offer simple and transparent price plans, the firm also does away with call centres and automated voices that take you through a litany of menu choices with endless numbers to press.

Zal is based in Forlì and focuses its efforts on customers in the surrounding Emilia-Romagna region. So proud is the company of its origins, that even its name has local roots, Zal is Romagnolo dialect and means 'yellow'.

Every year, by Christmas time, Thomas Manss & Company presents to clients a booklet containing, at a glance, its international background, and some of its cultural particularities, in good humoured captions and nice illustrations. The 2011 edition contemplated office objects combined with the national colours of the different countries in which TM&Co is based: United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and Brazil.

The assignment was to give the original 2D illustrations a realistic appearance, using only vector tools and visual effects, so that, in some cases, it´s quite difficult to distinguish whether the object is a picture, or still a draw - as shown in the "before-after" sequence below.
