ThinkB4YouSpeak
A Non-Profit Ad. Campaign
Derogatory slurs are commonplace among youth today and in some cases are literally driving kids to suicide. ThinkB4YouSpeak is an organization campaigning against the casual use of derogatory words and sayings in today’s culture, sayings like, “that’s so gay,” are their primary targets. This quarter size ad campaign is trying to broadcast that message further – that if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all. By showing a silhouette of someone, rather than an illustration or a photo, it allows the viewers to insert themselves into the ad, creating a common ground. This concept becomes clearer when the viewer sees the mouth silhouette is forced shut in various ways with whichever slur they are thinking clearly displayed above them. After seeing the second ad or so, the viewer begins to catch on to the series, ending with the final thought, “think b4 you speak.”
