A1 Giclée print
Of the three 'new' typefaces, two were steeped in history (Neue Hass Grotesk & Rotis) and the third (Akko) reflected more modern ideals. This led me to explore how things have changed in the industry. I wanted to capture the physical nature of the craft involved - typesetting, woodblock printing, hot metal typesetting etc, but I also wanted to nod towards the modern technologies involved today - computers and software, laser/digital printing.
Shavings of metal, chipping's of wood and powdered printer toner reference wood blocks, hot metal press and digital laser print and the piece was constructed from hundreds of scanned elements using photoshop and illustrator. "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" as well as being a recognised pangram commonly used in the design industry also serves as a reminder that we should constantly attempt to innovate, in any industry.
