A while ago I was approached by Lisa Marr and Paulo Davanzo from the Echo Park Film Center and WORM to make a design for a 3-month long workshops they were doing in Rotterdam named 'The Sound We See / A Rotterdam City Symphony'. It's part of an up and coming series of City Symphony workshops around the world which aims to get youngsters excited about film and the use of analog filming techniques in the contemporary urban environment. During the workshop a 24 hour day in Rotterdam was documented in 24 minutes with each participant having 1 minute of film to document his or her experience of city life in Rotterdam at a specific hour with only an analog camera and no sound. Later when the film was being edited the X-Static Tics added their musical interpretation of the footage (and the city of Rotterdam) to finish of film. I really liked the concept of the City Symphony, therefore I soundmapped Rotterdam in several ways. The shapes that came out of that I used in the final design of the DVD. Many thanks to Timo Klok for authoring the DVD. Read Less
