Mercedes-Benz has a corporate professional development program just like any other company, but what makes Mercedes-Benz different is their unparalleled commitment to providing engaging and highly interactive e-learning courses that turn potentially dry subject matter into rich learning experiences. I was slated to art direct The Sales Process - Essential Steps - an e-learning course intended for Sales personnel in all Mercedes-Benz USA dealerships. What came from the first Mondrian-inspired design, was an engaging yet easily portable design benchmark to be applied across several different courses. The intention was to shift our e-learning courses from being simply animated slide presentations to rich video-based courses driven by motion graphics and a narrator in an effort to increase retention and interest. As part of the internal team that partners with instructional designers to create engaging material, we have since produced a new brand of courses in the spirit of this first ambitious design.
