This piece, a commissioned work, continues my theme of story telling with minimal composition and subject matter. In addition, the string between the dog and the balloon has been tied with a bow. This was a conscious decision to give the dog human characteristics in order that the viewer may imagine the dog tying the bow herself, adding to the story of the picture. A final feature is the paper on which the illustration was composed upon. Dating back to the 1950’s, this Italian artist’s watercolour paper was sauced from a disused illustrator’s studio near Salzburg, Austria.
