This cot utilizes the strongest synthetic fiber known to date to suspend its passenger in a reclined position 18 inches off the ground. Coming in at 27.2oz, this light weight structure relies on only loading its members with either pure compression or pure tension. All tensile components of this cot are composed of Dyneema® (Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene) fibers. Originally intended to save lives as a bulletproof material, UHMWPE exhibits 15 times the yield strength of high carbon steel. Pound for pound. All compression structures are composed of Ultra-Strength Aluminum Alloy 7068. Originally developed for military hardware applications, the 7068 Alloy is the strongest commercially available aluminum alloy to date being that it twice the strength but half the weight of steel. The sail style seat that suspends the passenger is constructed using proper corner reinforcement to take full advantage of the 4oz UHMWPE-UD (Uni-Directional) laminates tensile structure. All seams are flat-felled, Reinforced with 9485PC Basting tape, and stitched with CRAQ-SPUN® Kevlar® Tex-50 thread for a strong seam that fails in a highly controlled fashion. All tie outs are constructed with 1" natural Kevlar® recovery webbing (rated at 4000 lb breaking strength)to anchor and distribute the load accordingly. The rope that suspends the body / sail is a 1/8 inch 12 braid hollow core Dyneema® rope that is rated at 2,300lbs breaking strength. The rope is tailored to its custom lengths and eye'd off using the Locked Brummel Eye Splice to maintain 97% to 99% of the original line strength. This is the strongest component of the whole cot. This will be the last to break in the whole system. This 27.2oz system disassembles by quick release and packs flat. Read Less
