“The Cathedral” Outdoor Installation, 2008, General View And Details, Variable Dimensions, Mixed Media, Location In Central Greece.
The Cathedral is an outdoor installation that was created at 2008. This ephemeral sacred place is located in a mountain created by sheep feces as a silent and distant microcosm that has become a hive of life for hundreds of microorganisms and insects. A paper that depicts a Saint and dates back from the early 20th century, as it was brought by refugees from Istanbul, is folded as a readymade architectural element in order to create an instant but also transitory space in dialectic with the sanctity. A tiny human presence stands in front of this extemporaneous temple, this possible shelter and contradicts with its scale alongside with contributing to this research for the meaning of the sacred, the human existence and deterioration through a minimalistic and marginal architectural approach.
