2009 Loerie Winner - Collateral Design and Illustration Craft - Yay!!!

Think is all about big ideas. We all knowhow difficult it is to come up with a truly brilliant "BIG idea". Theconcept personifies the "BIG idea" by transforming it into an elusivecreature that one has to "catch". This direct mailer, in the form of afold-out brochure, depicts ways of (im)possibly catching the "BIGidea". The curious, doodle-like illustrations are engaging andpleasantly entertaining. They appear to have been created in a dreamand therefore emphasise the concept of ideas through fantasy andimagination.

The mailerbrings the concept of ideas to life in a combination of quirkyillustrations and hand-drawn typography. It depicts the everyday, stereotypical "designer guy" and his frustration at chasing thiselusive "golden snitch" idea down. A feeling most creatives know alltoo well!

The 'creaturecreator' sticker book - gives the user an opportunity to playfullyinteract with the brochure and express their creativity. Theaccompanying copy: “So, what’s your big idea?” invites the viewer to"create" their own quirky "idea" creature with a variety of vinylstickers - from bodies to appendages, facial features and accessories.Once assembled, the "idea" can be moved and stuck onto any surface. This engaging activity not only serves as entertainment, but it alsostimulates creativity and provides an opportunity for self-expression.
