These skateboarding shots were taken outside of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona. This is a popular venue for skaters to gather, which in my opinion brings energy and life to this plaza and to the pedestrians which bisect this area of the city.
Barcelona is renowned for its skateboarding, with endless opportunities to practice, perform and socialise. The people which are drawn to this sport bring fresh, independent and interesting dynamics in terms of ability, fashion and outlooks. They invest in a board and make use of the environment which surrounds them, whether it be a prestige skate park, a derelict factory, or a half-built wall. They use the city for its inherent purpose - to be lived in. Skateboarding is an important part of city life and teaches many lessons which all of us can learn from.
I hope you enjoy their freedom of expression.
