The 12 dancing princesses is a medieval fairytale from France.
There was once a king who had 12 beautiful daughters. In an effort to keep them as pure as possible, he decided to isolate them from the world. So he locked them up in a spectacular castle, equipped with every comfort imaginable. Every single morning however, all the princesses needed new shoes. Their new shoes from the previous day were completely worn out. This was a great mystery to the king, who decided to offer his youngest daughter's hand in marriage to the person who would solve it.
As it turned out, the lucky guy was one of the gardeners in the castle...
Here are a few of the illustrations I did for this story. It was published by the Greek publishers "August Publications" in 2006. The look is fairytale-like, but with a twist. Hope you enjoy them!
