Installation of new windows and construction of a stone knee wall with concrete board.
Sun Room Renovation
Smoky Mountain stones anchor a room of windows.
A client for whom I'd built the Moon Gate and other outdoor structures requested that I use the leftover stones from the previous projects to make the knee wall surrounding this room.  The old floor-to-ceiling windows were replaced with shorter, energy-efficient ones.  The wooden columns, which had begun rotting at their bases, were truncated and set on faux bases made of concrete board, which was also used to fill out the walls beside the new windows.  The project was finished with a diamond of Smoky Mountain flag stones surrounding a square of slate gravel.
