In March of 2003 the crew of the Los Angeles class, fast-attack submarine U.S.S. Providence took part in a war time patrol as part of the initial attack starting the Iraq War. The Providence fired all of the boat's Tomahawk cruise missiles from the Red Sea over three days of strikes on Iraq as part of the combined group of U.S. submarines known as the "Red Sea Wolf Pack".
