This project was an entry for the 'State Art Competition' held by Maharashtra state in year 2010. Piracy is a crime, still it is being done illegally all over the country. India has emerged as one of the biggest hubs of film piracy, with many metro cities and towns. Piracy is committed in many ways and it threatens the livelihood of creatively working people, as well as potentially reduces the value of films. Piracy insults not only the art but also thousands of artists who has worked dedicatedly to create the masterpiece. Though piracy is crime, people are using pirated products which is like supporting the crime. Piracy has to be stopped.
I chose 'Mother India ' movie for this project. To convey my thought I modified the movie title 'Mother India' to 'Murder India' as it is the poster against piracy and 'Murder India' suits perfectly according to my thought. I illustrated the visual by hand in poster colors to bring the effect of film posters had been made in 70's and 80's and did the post work digitally.
This is the original poster of Mother India Film. I modified it with the title 'Mother India' to 'Murder India' for my artwork and repainted it by hand in poster colors as well as did some digital work to create a highly finished artwork.
'Mother India' is a story of a poverty-stricken village woman named Radha, who amid many other trials and tribulations, struggles to raise her sons and survive against an evil money-lender. Despite her hardship, she sets a goddess-like moral example of what it means to be an Indian woman, yet kills her own criminal son at the end for the greater moral good. She represents India as a nation in the aftermath of independence.
