A fictional new theatre is opening soon called Space 18. It is a fresh, modern theatrical space with a focus on inclusivity that will show both Irish and international, modern and old, mainstream and avant garde plays. The theatre is keen to play with how the spectator engages with the play and therefore does not have fixed seating or stage, both can move to suit the set design of each play.

This idea of movement was what really intrigued me about the theatre. I started to think about movement and motion. I researched and looked at a lot of motion pictures and objects with movement. I wanted the logo to be elegant and modern, but at the same time showing movement or motion. After my research and analysis I set upon a bird to represent Space 18. The next stage was working out how the logo/mark would look. Through tedious hours of trial and error, I decided to settle on a really loose freehand illustration of a bird. I felt the loose line also with the image of a bird portrayed movement simply and effectively.
