Social Watch is an international network of citizens' organizations struggling to eradicate poverty and its causes, to end all forms of discrimination and racism, to ensure an equitable distribution of wealth and the realization of human rights.
The report includes some thematic chapters written by members of important social and academic organizations. Contains the data for the most recent measurement of the Basic Capabilities Index (BCI) which combines the rates of infant mortality, the expected number of births and the rate of primary school enrollment. This edition also presents the Gender Equality Index (GEI) and the new index with respect to the realization of economic and social rights (SERF Index), which determines how states are complying with their obligations to make five human rights set out in the international Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: the right to food, to adequate housing, to medical care, to education and to a decent job.
