I've always been a huge fan of sci-fi films, growing up inspired by Star Wars. ILM Lucas Film , Blade Runner, Syd Mead, The Labyrinth, Jim Henson … As a young boy, I was amazed at how imagination is brought to life. I never imagined that I'll have this rare chance to fulfill this childhood dream one day.
My friend John Dablo CEO/CGI head of Blackburst Inc. trusted me to work with him on Shake, Rattle & Roll 14 (film series). The project itself is a huge success and I'm so proud to have been part of it. It was a very humbling experience working with a bunch of creative guys like them.
We brainstormed with director Chito S. Roño--running through the story and plot, as well as the creatures and characters to star in the film. I've divided these creatures in 3 categories: air, land, and water characters.
Air Creatures - "ALITAP-TAP", inspired by my childhood toy Helicopter Whirling Toy and insects like the dragonfly, spider, and firefly. "GANGIS" mothership inspired, Cicada the world’s loudest insect
Land Creatures - Inspired by three terrible blood-sucking creatures, which is known to mankind. "PULGAS" Flea The Black Death is estimated to have killed 30 to 60 percent of Europe's population during the 12th century. Other malevolent creatures under this category are the "SUROT" Bed bugs, and "GARAPATA" Tick.
Water Creatures - Director Chito S. Roño wanted characters that emit massive electricity. Top-of-mind creatures include the electric eel and elephant. "MOTLIG"- inspired elephant - Half-eel half-elephant, "TONGAWA"- inspired spider monkey and crab. "MAGRHA"- inspired "Fish Bull", Half-fish Half-bull terrier.
