Shadow Line was a font design by myself and Alice Glenane as a part of our graphic design minor, Typography and Illustration. Shadow Line was inspired by the architecture of The Queensland Museum to reflect the structural and geometric nature of the building and its continuous evolution of shadowing. The shadows cast from the museum were deconstructed to create elements that would form the typeface. The type anatomy uses the design principles of balance, denial and reward, subtraction and juxtaposition. This is achieved through solid and void forms, that have been balanced with thin lines and points. Gestalts theory of closure has been implemented into the design with sharp line work intersecting the solid forms. The vinyl cover is an extension of the typeface to further articulate the concept, design and aesthetics of Shadow Line. The textural colour palette has been chosen to compliment the materiality of The Queensland Museum Shadow Line captures the beauty of The Queensland Museum. Read Less
