With the NASA space shuttle programme coming to a close as of late, the progress of numerous independent and commercial space transport development organisations has been launched (excuse the pun!) into the public domain. Space X of California are currently leading the way into orbit by recently sending their Dragon craft to and from the International Space Station safely. They have their sights on Mars and aim to be sending manned missions to The Red Planet within half a century.
