Runes by the Yard are paintings in a larger series featuring the organic shapes made by embedding stones, rocks and gravel in paint and acrylic media. Removing these stones leaves behind an intriguing pattern of marks and outlines. Where the medium is thickest a mold of the stone s clearly visible and raised from the surface. I also like the word's many meanings: an inscription of magical significance, a divine symbol, a stone used in meditation and prognostication, a mystery. Inherently unpredictable, I enjoy the many surprises of the process and the use of non-traditional painting tools. Read Less
