Work for a course which studied the work of Louis Kahn. The precedent study below is of Louis Kahn's Richards Medical Center, a labratory building on the University of Pennsylvania's campus in Philadelphia.
The construction of Richards Medical Center marked one of the first prefabricated and post tensioned systems in building construction. The reinforced concrete system is made clear on the exterior of the building and is openly depicted as bearing weight. The physical model below shows the prefabricated structural system; it is of one bay of the building.
