Real Estate (Before the Bust)
Close your eyes for a moment and recall the days before the 2007-2008 economic bust, when houses of all shapes and sizes flew off the shelves like Tickle-Me-Elmos. Over the last decade, I managed an abundant amount of real estate design projects focused on brand design and enhancement. This work included creation of logos, marketing materials, sales center displays, web sites, and signage systems for numerous residential communities.
Element is one of the rare modern townhouse developments built near the Microsoft main corporate campus in Redmond, just east of Seattle. The brand was designed to appeal to both the eager young techie-urbanite and the experienced manager weary of a long commute, and who wanted to be closer to many of the outdoor recreation opportunities abundant in the Pacific Northwest.
“Attention Young Urban Hipsters: want to join the real estate boom? Have we got a condo for you, in a brand new residential building in Seattle’s trendy Capitol Hill neighborhood! There’s abundant retail and parking, a community craft room, a pea-patch, a yoga studio, and a bike storage room. Did we mention the condos are affordable? Yep, you can have it all - as long as large square-footage isn’t a priority.”

Copper Ridge is a townhouse development located within the large planned community of Talus. Talus is bucolic, but convenient; surrounded by trees and trails, fields and streams, it is just five minutes drive from the big box stores.

The Copper Ridge client needed to receive the printed brochure “now”; however, they were still evolving the details of individual home plans and features. I designed an eye-catching loose-leaf style brochure bound with a large rubber band, which allowed the client to print and replace any brochure page as needed. My solution addressed the immediate challenge of the provisional nature of brochure components, yet delivered an attractive and functional product to the client.
