With this project I wanted to create everything from scratch, including the type. I printed out each letter on 8.5x11" paper and carved each character out of thick foam board. I wanted the viewer to get the feel of the theme which was "everything you remember and more". What I remember from Ravinia is relaxing on the green grass, being surrounded by people having picnics while drinking wine, and being swallowed by the music that was playing. I went for a different approach to the typical vector-driven poster design. I wanted the poster to be photo-driven and the type to feel as if it was visitor to this elegant festival. The photos that surround the Ravinia postcard are chosen at random from my childhood with family. I chose photos with warm hues and summer scenes to evoke emotion and reaction from the viewer. I want the viewer to put themselves in those photos and reminisce from their own memories of the summertime and ultimately think of how they can create their own by attending Ravinia. Read Less
