Advances in textile technology and manufacturing have provided a wider potential for the application of textiles, and the role of the textile designer has consequently taken on multiple meanings. Using an “architectural way of thinking and doing in textile design”, the research explored manufacturing processes - such as 3d printing -to produce a series of experimental pattern-based structures that could be used as decorative features in an architectural environment.
