My present work explores the potencial of painting dealing with historical events especifically . I started working from pictures used by spanish newspaper to illustrated the occupation of Sol square, Madrid, by the 15M. It's resault is a series of six 35 x 27 cm. u. oil drawings and 140 x 310 cm. painting. The painting was construted by reframing the same newspaper picture. Be joining as well consist in small fragments of this kinds pictures shown by the medias, and were painted in white on white, (white oil on white paper). The historical painting was remplaced by press photography, this way I returned to the painting in order to reformulate the process of cutting and erasing wich is implicit in the act of representanting memory. This memory is an everyday working process and it's finds it self constantily refocused and forgotten. The “white on white” demands to the beholder a gaze, we must force ourself to look in order to see what is represented. Therefore I focus my work onto both problems: the fragmentacion wich it lies inside of every historical narrative and the issue related to the disappearing of the records and I try to questio myself and the viewer about the process itself. When I paint with a colour that its so similar to its background the aesthetic code manifest its own weakness. Read Less
