This particular design was a pretty fun process. On Saturday night September 8th, I actually did a 4 hour stream of the carving process on my youtube channel. I tried to do my best at filling the broadcast with some useful content, mostly talking about the block printing process as a whole, I also talked about some of the inspirations in my work.
I had a good time chatting it up with some folks that were commenting through twitter and Facebook, it was pretty cool to sprinkle in a little bit of interaction with folks watching the broadcast. I’ve been trying to reach out and be more active in all social media forums and be available for any questions and comments. This youtube live stream was one of the coolests experiments. I hope to do it again soon, maybe up the production value, after all it was my first time.
“Pushing Up Daisies” is an original hand carved and printed block print. Pushing up Daisies is an old American idiom for one being “Dead and Buried.” I thought this print would be very appropriate coming into fall and soon celebrating Halloween. This typography based print is hand cut in the shape of a casket. Perfect for All Hallow’s Eve.
Each print measures 11 inches tall. Printed on Licorice Black French cover stock with custom mixed water base block inks.Make sure ty stop by the Etsy Shop and pick one up!
