In December of 2013, The Portland Thunder approached our team with the challenge of branding the new AFL Expansion team.
The team had been working with another design, but was dissatisfied with the end product. They asked if we would take on the project of developing the logo, brand visuals, taglines and messaging before the season officially started in March.
In ten days of intense ideation, presentation and revision, we developed a brand mark that would position the Portland Thunder solidly as a viable professional sports team. Following the logo, numerous other expansions of the brand were created including: Uniforms, Filmed Media, Posters, Brand Guidelines, Apparel, Large-Format Graphics, and much more.
• The logo was officially unveiled at a Portland Trailblazers game to over 20,000 fans, followed by a press release with local news, and cable sports networks.
• The official Facebook page reached over 35,000 fans by the day the logo was released.
• Multiple commercial TV spots were developed and aired nationally during the Superbowl.
• Portland Thunder first game attendance was over 8,000 fans.
