The Brief
Create a logo for the Plascon Prism Awards Architecture competition. The 2010 theme was Adapt & Evolve

South Africa is a nation with an eclectic history and we are continually transforming ourselves. Our architecture style adapts and evolves to its environment.

Our Solution
We demonstrated this ability to adapt and evolve by creating a living logo that responds to conditions in its immediate environment.
How it works
The logo lives on the competition website, the main point of contact with architectural students.
Students visit www.plasconprismawards.co.za and are prompted to choose their current location.

The flash engine reads the latest available weather for that location and adapts and evolves in real time.

• Colour changes according to the temperature and is chosen from the 2010 Plascon Colour Forecast.
• Brightness changes according to the position of the sun. Bright colours during day time, dark colours at night.
• The logo spreads out when there is little or no wind, but contracts to protect itself when there are strong winds.
• During low humidity the logo generates less squares in order to survive.
• The air pressure dictates the size of the squares.
