PAST CONTINUOUS
A Tour Through The Fascist Style In Bolzano

Past Continuous is a series of photographs focused on the past and present of fascist style of some of the most well-known architectural constructions in Bolzano and how they developed over the years as well as their surroundings. The photographs are based on images of the fascist time, taken from the book “L’Architettura per una Bolzano Italiana” by Oswald Zoeggeler and Lamberto Ippolito and they try to recreate some of the features of the original images in order to establish an analogy between them.

The series is organized as if it was the sight of someone who comes to town and follows this route in order to discover the most emblematic buildings of Italian fascism in Bolzano, starting with the Train Station, a place used by many people as an entrance to the town, going through the center and ending up at Drusus Bridge, one of the places where it’s quite clear the difference between past and present, especially due to the removal of the eagle sculptures with fascist connotations.
