Turbulence During the construction process, the original concept design became the top of the piece and the rest of the sculpture grew from there. The main part of the bottom of the sculpture is an elongated version of the top tunnel pillar from my original design. The bottom sides of the sculpture consists of asymmetrical ribbed shapes and fans of varying sizes to tie in the overall visual movement of the structure. As I was working on the second half, the structure gradually started to look more and more frenetic to me. Bearing it’s new found frenetic nature in mind, while still wanting to keep the wind theme, I decided to call the paper sculpture “Turbulence“ after the impression I felt the sculpture was giving off in it‘s lines. ______ Rising sun (Paper / wire sculpture) A tribute to Japan.
