  • Based on the tale of "Mizaru, Kikazaru, and Iwazaru" in Japanese culture and popularized as the 3 wise monkeys in Western culture, I decided to construct African inspired masks using a series of wooden planes to represent SEE (ona) no evil, SPEAK (ongea) no evil and HEAR (sikia) no evil. I decided to use the African symbolism not only because I have interest in African culture but to show the "universatility" of the saying.
