"Noúmeno is a series of portraits I continue to make of my father’s old friends, with the intention of crystallizing and rebuilding, through the essence of each one of them, the story of my now absent sire. It synthesizes the concept of reflecting, which etymologically signifies “bend back” or “return”, and philosophically implies to seek something about oneself. By means of a custom made two-way mirror placed in between the subject and the lens, each one of these elderly men confronts his own image. While they calmly stare at themselves and analyze their reflection, I can observe them and photograph them, free of all pose, just as they are."
