On 22 February 2011, an earthquake devastated Christchurch, New Zealand. Leaving vacant ‘gaps’ where buildings once stood and homes, business, schools and football training grounds ruined. On the eve of the first All Whites match in Christchurch since the quake, we transformed one of these vacant ‘gaps’ in the CBD into a community football pitch. The All Whites were there to launch the space, with hundreds of local youth players competing in a 5-a-side tournament. The pitch was officially handed to over to the community and remains open today, playing its small part in the rebuilding of Christchurch. Read Less
