The Namibia Planned Parenthood Association (NAPPA) is a registered welfare Association operating as a voluntary, non governmental and non profit making organisation. Established in 1996 and is an affiliate member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Vision: NAPPA envisages a country where youth, men, women and children enjoy healthy lives free from HIV/AIDS. Where all people have equal access to quality sexual and reproductive health information and services, and where all stakeholders work in active and dynamic partnership to fulfil sexual and reproductive rights for all. Mission: …Provides the youth with knowledge and means of exercising their basic rights, to decide freely and responsibly on their SRH as an alternative to improving the quality of life of Namibians The distinct roles and behaviours of men and women in a given culture, dictated by culture’s gender norms and values give rise to gender differences. Such differences also give rise to gender inequalities – differences between men and women which systematically empower one group to the detriment of the other. This detriment is most noticeable with regards to health status and access to health care. The good news is that gender norms and values and the resulting behaviours are not fixed. They evolve over time, vary substantially from place to place and are subject to change. Thus, the poor health consequences of gender differences/inequalities are not fixed either. They can be changed. Hence this proposal Injuries Deaths Sexual and reproductive health Risky behaviours (unsafe abortions, drugs, alcoholism etc) Mental health Physical health Read Less
