The installation seeks to create a spatial experience that blurs one’s perception of the boundaries between the visual and the physical. It is at once a cage and uninhabitable void, an object that confronts and engages the visitor without literal enclosure. Instead, it is a kinetic exchange of real and perceived densities. Constructed using welded rebar, the self-structural dense form can only be fully experienced in time. Movement activates the geometry of its solid frame, with spaces that open and close based on the center points of the voided ellipses, thus challenging one’s sense of space and depth. Overlapping spatial planes create the perception of fleeting forms that expand and contract, emerge and disappear. Read Less
