This project will be on view at the Corcoran Gallery of Art for the exhibition "NEXT 2013" in Washington, DC from April 6 - May 19th, 2013. -------------------- "Estamos Contigo Siempre (We Are With You Always)" Jordana Hall “I am still my mother and father’s son. I try, every day, to be a positive role model for my nieces and nephews.” -Miguel Quezada, inmate Miguel’s family members go about their daily lives with a piece of their hearts locked away in San Quentin State Prison. They write letters, send photographs, visit frequently, and call almost daily. Miguel attributes his sanity to their continued conversation. Miguel was incarcerated at age 16 for second-degree murder, after being tried as an adult. Now 31, he has spent half of his entire life in prison. Due to the circumstances of his sentence, his first parole hearing is not until the year 2040. He will be 60 years old. Miguel is one of hundreds of men in the state of California with similar stories - serving a life sentence for a crime he committed as a teenager. Read Less
