I am drawn to and fascinated by old photographs. To understand those moments of history captured is a moving experience I attempt through colorizing to bring a now moment to the textures of moments lived in the past My goal is to panavision in muted and respectful terms the way your grandparents experienced life. Without the extraordinary input of past masters of photographic art. My work of transforming could not exist. The art is always recognized n appropriately given credit. My heart art my way of saying thank you Restored and colorized © By Marie-Lou Chatel Read Less

I've always been fascinated by the great photographers of this century, as Robert Frank etc. .. every time I look at a picture of them, I wonder how they saw the scene in color before taking the picture.
One day by chance, I came across a website of the American archive fsa or it is possible to take high-resolution photos free copyrights, a whole series of photos of Dorothea Lange was there, this is how it all began.
When I share, I quote the name of the photographer it's a way for me to honor them because I know that without them I would never have found the way to express myself artistically.
For the technical side, my goal is to find the colors as close as possible to reality, I work with a repository of shades of gray at the base, but I prefer to rely on my instincts and my imagination, in short all the sensations that I try to put in my work. Restored and colorized © By Marie-Lou Chatel

And now a bit of Shorpy scholarship/detective work. A public records search shows that 535-07-5248 belonged to one Thomas Cave, born July 1912, died in 1980 in Portland. Which would make him how old when this picture was taken? 27?
