My Secret Heart
My Secret Heart is a new commission by Streetwise Opera of a music and film installation written by Warp artist Mira Calix and Flat-e.

The work is inspired by Allegris 17th-century choral work Miserere Mei, a piece so protected by the Vatican that they put an embargo on it, the breaking of which was punishable by excommunication. Legend has it that the 14 year old Mozart visited the Sistine Chapel in 1770 and transcribed it entirely from memory and eventually freed it from embargo.

The work explores the themes of secrecy and concealment through the use of surround sound and a circular screen encouraging the audience to move freely through the space.
After its UK premiere at the Royal Festival Hall, the work toured globally in Japan and Switzerland and will visit Australia and several UK venues in 2010.
