WHAT IT DOES
If you've ever watched YouTube videos with friends, you'll know that it can be a fun, but frustrating experience. The frustration stems largely from the fact that only one person at a time can select videos for the group to watch. Moulintube was built to solve that problem. Moulintube is a two-screen social video-sharing platform. Users in the same location - like a party - can search YouTube through the Moulintube mobile application, select videos to play, and add them to a playlist, which is then shown in real-time on a shared viewing screen. It's like a remote control for YouTube parties.

BASED ON INSIGHTS
At the time Moulintube was conceived, over a year's worth of video was being uploaded to YouTube every minute. Today, that rate has doubled. Watching YouTube videos has become a routine social activity. However, YouTube did not originate as a social platform, and has struggled to adopt its core product to a shared experience. Moulintube is an experiment in trying to create a better user interaction around sharing YouTube videos with friends in the same physical space.

MY ROLE
Moulintube was a solo project. I conceived, researched, wireframed and wrote the code for the application.

AHEAD OF THE CURVE
Moulintube was created in November of 2010. Almost a year later, social video-sharing has taken off on multiple platforms, including: Shelby.tv, Google+ Hangouts, chill.com and Rolling.fm
