Morden Design Guidelines

Mordern Design Guidelines
This document guided new development, renovation, and rehabilitation within Morden’s downtown, intended as the foundation of by-law development. I was the project manager and lead designer, responsible for coordination, design, drawing production, layout, and content.
These guidelines were developed to direct new development, renovation, and rehabilitation within Morden’s downtown, as the foundation of by-law development.

The guidelines focus on three broad categories: Public Open Space, Architectural Expression, and Vehicular systems. Each guideline addresses specific values and objectives developed with the Town, shown on the right side of the image. In this way design decisions are not random, nor are they they opinion of designers. They work towards goals that are determined by the community.

Throughout the guidelines, attention is paid to common sense solutions that reflect good practices in universal access, sustainability, and safety. The guidelines are prescriptive enough to direct real solutions, and yet flexible enough to allow adaptation.
