Equiset has appointed NH Architecture to design the new Monash Village at the University’s Caufield campus. The project is a collection of six new buildings comprising student apartments, commercial office space, educational facilities, retail tenancies, a supermarket, and car parking. The open space between the buildings incorporates a new north-south pedestrian street with lanes feeding into it from the existing retail strip to the west and the University campus to the east. The plan links into and reinforces the local streets, campus pathways, and connections to public transport. This multi-dimensional project is an example of how variety and complexity can exist within a structured environment of existing urban community.
A key aim of this $300 million project is to integrate the University campus with the community and create an active, vital, and sustainable centre. The new development will link a diverse range of communities and create plazas that will be the heart of campus and community life. Monash Village is a project that exemplifies Equiset’s and NH Architecture’s capacity to provide successful solutions to highly complex briefs.
