I was asked to brand the inaugural Plymouth Film Festival. The identity needed to capture the rich film history of Plymouth and promote the festival on an international scale, to compete with other high profile film festivals.
The logo is a simple interpretation of the most iconic landmark of Plymouth, Smeaton’s Tower. This was achieved by using the three red stripes of the lighthouse and transforming them into film reels. Combining this with screenshots of the submitted films resulted in a strong visual device that could be used throughout all the festivals promotional materials.
