Branding project for a Designation of Origin (D.O.) winery in the Priorat region. The Mas d´en Blei vineyard is located in Morera de Montsant. The old masia (Catalan term used to describe a farmstead) was built in 1756 and consists of a series of buildings set on the banks of the Siurana river.
For this particular project we started out with the naming process drawing heavily on the strength of the name of the vineyard itself: Blei. We created a brand that adopts the rosewood tree as its symbol, which presides over the entrance to the masia, as the representative image for the place itself. The four varieties of wine produced at the vineyard, red and white alike, adopt a secondary denomination based on the name of the “clos” (vineyard) where they are grown.
Clos Martina 2010 is the name given to the first ever white wine produced at Mas d´en Blei. The label design involves a subtle display of the characteristic morphology of the wine growing area to be found in the Priorat region, black slate-like “licorella” sloping stone walled vineyards, which bestow these wines with a unique personality. In the “Blei” logo, we modified the outline of the letter “i” to resemble the classic shape of the thread-like tendril of the vines.
