The exhibition 'That’s How It Is' was the first such a large presentation of works by Marcin Maciejowski – a painter and draughtsman, one of the most fascinating artists of the younger generation. In his painting, realistic by principle, Maciejowski engages in a dialogue with the mass media and pop culture. Parastudio was asked to design a catalogue and advertising campaign for this exhibition.
Since Maciejowski is one of the painters from the young generation, we decided to use some modern bookbinding techniques to make the catalogue really fashionable for modern art enthusiasts. We used two different typefaces in our layout (Fishmonger for Polish and Garamond for English) to distinguish language versions and to contrast a modern geometric sans serif with the Renaissance classic.
