  • In the fall of 2010, MIT Architecture approached us to help develop its academic identity, in a bid to examine its messaging and coordinate it with the department’s disciplines, their needs, and their graphics.Consisting of six disciplines, each with its own distinctive culture and operation, the challenge was to create a clear and adaptable framework that could support the diversity of voices and users while maintaining a cohesive unity in the design language.Working closely with the department, we developed a rigorous typographic identity system, built upon a highly rational and flexible content hierarchy system that can be easily adapted by any user, including faculty and students.
